DUBAI DESIGN DISTRICT FREE ZONE

Launched in 2013 by the UAE’s Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum, to encourage growth and investment in markets like digital media, arts, design, and fashion Dubai Design District (D3) is the latest of Free Zone business parks by TECOM Investments.

Valued at $ 27.6 bn., UAE is the largest market for design, and this year Dubai Design District has launched its phase 2 in #Cityscape, outlining not just a business district, but an authentic innovative community with a soul. D3’s vision is fully aligned with Dubai Strategy 2021 to create a “Cohesive Inclusive Community of Creatives’”. Designed by Foster and Partners, the phase 2 of D3 is due for completion in 2019 and it is specifically designed to forge an active community customized to fit contemporary business needs – from established names and global brands, to startups – D3 brings together the whole creative league under one roof and one principle: with creative energy, passion meets purpose. D3 is set to become the “playground” for more than 180,000 creative individuals and home for one-of-a-kind retail, dining and entertainment unique concepts, providing its visitors with a distinctive experience.

Company Formation in Dubai Design District:

    • Free zone:

a. Free Zone Limited Liability Company (FZ LLC).
b. Branch of a UAE company.
c. Branch of a foreign company.
d. Freelance permit.
e. Commercial and freelance.

  • On-shore: companies operating with an on-shore (DED) license are 51% locally owned and allowed to operate in the mainland and inside the zone.

a. Special licensing for design and fashion with freelance permits for artists and designers.
b. 0% personal income tax.
c. 0% corporate tax for the first 50 years.
d. No currency restrictions.
e. Strategic location: in proximity to Business Bay, Dubai Mall, and Burj Khalifa.

It takes only four (4) steps to obtain a D3FZ-LLC license:

STEP 1: Submit Application
a. Application for Registration.
b. Application for license.
c. Business plan.
d. Valid passport copy(s) of:
i. Shareholder(s) of the proposed company (Not applicable for Corporate shareholding & Branch)
ii. Manager of the proposed company
iii. Director(s) of the proposed company

STEP 2: Submit required legal documents for company registration
a. Submit legal documents.
b. Select suitable commercial space (We can assist you in finding suitable office and commercial
space).
c. Pay necessary fees.

STEP 3: Article of Association
(To be signed by either the Legal Representative or by the Shareholders in front of the D3 Business Development team member or must be Notarized and Attested by UAE Embassy).

STEP 4: Sign and collect documents
a. Collect and Sign the lease
i. Provide Post Dated Cheques issued by a UAE Bank for the entire lease period as per the schedule of payment mentioned in the lease.
ii. Ejari Fee AED 200 (Cash Only).
Collect and sign PSA (applicable for branch and FZ-LLC)
